For my research paper, I need to add a header onto the right side of my paper. The header needs to have my last name and the page number. The only thing is, I DONT need this special header on my first page. For example, the header on the first page is blank. The second page should say Smith 2 at the top right. The fourth page is Smith 4, and so on and so forth. Anybody know how to do this?

Yes, I had to do this for an essay last semester.
Go to View >>> Header and Footer >>> Right align (if needed) >>> Type in your name Then, to insert the page number, go to Insert >>> Page number >>> and Uncheck "show number on first page" Note: I had to play around with this a bit to get it to do exactly what I wanted - you might have to insert the header on the 2nd page and then it should not insert anything on the first page, but still insert the header on all the other pages. |
