Default who really hates using the new microsoft word 2007?

I do, they just recently installed it at college so when I do some work at school, it saves it .docx format. I know i can downlaod its compatibility from microsoft, but that's not the point. The reason why this really annoys me is because if the format is in .docx and i need to open the document on a PC which doesnt have word 2007, or .docx compatability, then im stuck. I know it gives you the option to save it as .doc or .docx but in a rush, you dont think and just press save.
Another reason why i really hate it is because it's all different. Until this morning, i didn't even know how to "save as" (we've had it for a week now).

The thing that irks me is the toolbars that, by default, fill half your screen, leaving you a little sliver of space left over to edit your document...

Ok, so not everybody has a 5-billion-pixel display...

Cool guy, today was the first day that I used Word 2007. I was extemely disappointed in the program. MS took a fairly easy to use program and really screwed it up. Nothing is intuitive, especially since we have all been working on various versions of Office that were similar. For example, there is no longer an Edit on the Menu Bar. Remember the easy Edit/Copy....Edit/Paste. No more. If you have an older version of Office, don't trade it for the new one. You'll be sorely disappointed.

Microsoft Office 2007 is a fine piece of kit, it just takes some getting used to.

See link below for user guidance :

I like it,
Give it time, you will fig it all out and start to like it. No more books with excel codes sitting on the desk.

PC with older Microsoft office will be prompted to down load a fix from Microsoft to read the 2007 files.
Don't blame office 2007 that some people have not updated the older version with the free fix.
Remember when office 2003 was new and so on.
Software need to evolve, Would you like to still be using Gem Word-processing? (early 80's software)

Try excel, power point and outlook, don't make you mind up on just the word app.
Would you test drive a car only in 1st gear?

I hated it too at first but I'm getting used to it now. You just need to practice using it as much as you can. Remember that everything is grouped according to the sections you'd find in the old Word documents, so all the Edit stuff is under one heading, and all the Print preview stuff is together.

I think you'll find that once you're used to it that it's quite easy to use and in some areas it's better than the old version,
xx

No-one likes change but the 2007 office package is brilliant. Once you get used to it you will agree, it just takes a while to get used to as it has changed so much.

I hate it it is nothing like the old one. What are all these backgrounds for/ I don't understand half of it not being computer literate. Instead of save or delete we now have save and discard. The more modern it becomes the less I understand. I am 60 yrs old after all.
