Default Can I open Excel files with Microsoft Works 8.5?

I have recently purchased a new PC that had Microsoft Works 8.5 pre installed. I have some saved Microsoft Office Excel spreadsheets from my old PC that i thought I would be able to use with the new PC but it seems that the Works program uses a different file type to that of Office to open the spreadsheets.

Is there anyway of being able to open and use the Excel spreadsheets with the Works program?

Thanks in anticipation

I would have to say no..

Works is built on kind of an older method of technology than Office is. If you created those documents on Office 2007, then no it will not work.

I do recommend purchasing the newer version of Office, I know its expensive, but.. that would be one of the ways to get around this.

I might be able to help you another way in converting the files to a file type that would be recognizable by Works. Shoot me an email if you like.
