Default When using Microsoft Word - if I paste a large amount of data - I get massive lag?

Hi I'm having problems with word. I've used it for years, but when I passed a large amount of data (about 200 small paragraphs, so not such a large amount) I get a massive lag. It's really annoying as I'm trying to write a report!
I've tried clearing the clipboard, doing a general disc clean up and I've restarted my computer. Do you have any ideas. Usually my computer is quite fast...
Thanks
I've got a dell dimension 3000. Sorry but that's all I know....

Like all MS software, for a word processor Word has always been resource hungry.
What sort of spec computer are you using?

Download and install CCleaner, it will wipe away any old stuff that your computer does not need.

Its 100% free and it is the most downloaded free programme ever!!! (over 90 million!!!!!!)

How much RAM does your computer have? If you are using other applications at the same time then the space available to hold large blocks of data will be limited and that's why you get the lag (in really simple terms).

Try closing non essential applications and see if that speeds things up
