Hey,
I'm using Vista Home premium and Eudora Pro 5.1. I've been using this since early 1995. Every time I migrate to a new pc, or reformat the hard drive, all I have ever needed to do is simply copy the entire Eudora folder, and drop it into the new system/drive. I've been doing this for twelve years and I've never had an error or a problem. Ever. I put my Eudora on my new Vista machine three weeks ago, like I've always done, and had no problem. I did have other issues so I did a "restore to factory settings" on the pc, which is from HP. After that is when the problems started. When I ran Eudora for the first time it gave me an error that it couldn't access the registry to make itself my primary email program. I ran the exe as administrator which allowed me to allow the program to change the registry. Now I'm getting an error that I cannot find any useful info about in the forums, or anywhere else online: Could not rename file from C:\ Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\LinkHistory.tmp to C:\ Program Files\Comm\Eudora\LinkHistory.dat. That message has an OK button. When that's clicked, the error reappears in about six seconds. Other than that error message, Eudora seems to be working fine. For clarification, when Vista installed, I named the single user on the pc "Admin". Since 1993, I have created a Comm folder in Program Files and put all the communications/online programs in it (it helps keep some order in the bloated Program Files). I used Eudora for about three weeks on the new pc, without a hitch. If it matters, the thing that forced me to factory reset the pc was an issue with the included tv tuner. Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix/correct this? Thanks! Paul The error is: Could not rename file from C:\ Users\Admin\AppData\Local\Temp\ LinkHistory.tmp to C:\ Program Files\Comm\Eudora\ LinkHistory.dat |
