I am trying to install an important update for my Windows Vista, but it never does. It runs for hours and doesn't get past 0% completion. What is wrong with it because it is really frustrating?

Don't install updates, only install REALLY REALLY important updates. Updates are things that fix the problems with your computer. Say you have a cake with a piece missing, this is your computer, and the update is the rest of the cake, and because updates are sent over the internet who knows what could get into them, thats why you should only install REALLY REALLY important updates. The update that you shouldn't install is called 'Update for Windows Vista' even if it says that it is an important update DO NOT install it. I installed it once and i had to reinstall windows so do not install it.

Thers is no such thing as an IMPORTANT UPDATE. If your system runs fine and you dont have any problems dont even bother installing any updates.
