Default Problem with booting windows vista in my dell inspiron 1525?

I bought a dell inspiron 1525 with 2gb RAM and 160 gb hard disk. It had C: with Windows vista OS occupying 136 gb and a recovery partition for 10 gb. I used Norton partition magic 8.0 to partition the C: but due to incompatibility issues of partition magic with vista home premium , I couldn't enter the OS after that. I tried all recovery methods using the OS cd but nothing is fruitful. I also tried reinstalling the vista but C: shows as Unallocated space. If i create a partition in that space I get error 0x8004240f . I tried loading driver but I don't know which driver to load. Please help me solve this problem.
