Default Microsoft Vista troubles. Help please?

Well since September 2007, I've had a Microsoft Vista computer.
I've been hearing rumors about the system having flaws and such, and until a while ago, I would just ignore them.

Now I'm starting to believe these rumors because first off, my computer always installs things for me, even when I don't ask for them to be installed, secondly, the system would always shut down at the worst moments, and to get the system back starting, I would have to bang the computer, or kick it for a period of time, but still even in 10-15 mintues, the system would shut down again.

Is there an explantaion to this?
Thanks

Sounds like you're having an overheating issue, a virus, or a bad PSU.

Download this:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Info/SiSoftware-Sandra.shtml

That will tell you how hot your computer is running, and a number of other things.

A virus is possible, unlikely, but possible. Just run a virus scan with any free virus scanner, such as AVG (free.grisoft.com).

The most probable cause is the PSU. The easiest way to test this would be to buy another PSU and see if you experience the same problem. Just make sure it's big enough to handle your hardware.. 500watt should be PLENTY unless you're running some amazingly ownage machine.

Good luck!

That sounds pretty bad, maybe like a virus. Do a scan, if you can. It could also be a hardware problem, but that wouldn't answer the whole software thing... what kind of computer is it?
