Default windows vista trouble connecting to a dial up account?

I recently formated the pc from XP to Vista and everything seems to working fine except my internet connection , it connects ok but surfing is reaaaly slow i have tested the line the modem and made sure isp had no fault issues never the less it still goes very slow , i also tested the same connection on a lap top which works normally so it rules out most of the common problems , modem is fairly new and was working fine before the format , are there any firewall or other options such as this in vista that may cause this problem??

this is the pc i have upgraded to Vista it details it has exactly 1g of Ram is there any other factors i should take into account apart from a virus?

Thanks in advance

vista requires more RAM than xp(512 RAM is not enough for vista) also select a partition atleast of 20GB(or larger than 20GB) on which vista is installed or running, also try update your modems drivers for windows vista.

Reasons for your problem:

Your RAM may be below 1GB
You may have virus transferred thru pen drive or secondary drive
Your port on the system may not be installed properly (Drivers)
