They keep going into a loop, saying it's trying to configure updates

the service packs? yeah they don't work for me either, and a waste of time.

Yes - and each time I had to reboot my PC. Eventually the whole thing became corrupted and stopped working. I had to spend hours on the phone to Dell support to get it rebuilt. Best thing is to switch off automatic updates in my view - do them manually.

I did two weeks ago. When the installation was finished I had to restart, but it just kept saying configuring updates 00%. Then it would just shut down and keep on repeating itself. I had to use system restore in the end. Lucky enough I had just used Revo uninstaller a day before I got the updates, so I was able to use that restore point. An hour later a message came up saying updates were successfully installed, please restart your computer. So I did and everything has been ok since. Its good to know I wasn't the only one that had this pain in the harris
