Default Microsoft Vista will not Boot ! Help Please. ?

My dad had Vista installed on his computer a couple months ago and it has been a real headache. It is very pretty and all that but seriously there are so many issues I don't know where to begin.

Today he went to start his computer and Vista won't boot. It will get to the stage where Windows is loading (with the loading bar at the bottom-center of the screen) and then it freezes. And thats it.

I CAN boot the computer in Safe Mode, but I don't know what needs to be done. I cannot boot in Safe Mode with networking, so maybe there is an issue with an TCP/IP DLL?

Worse yet, I tried to just wipe out the hard drive and re-install XP and it won't let me! When I try to Format, it seems like it doesn't even recognize the Hard Drive and it will crash when I tell it to install XP (Blue Screen).

Any Ideas? Please help. Microsoft is seriously getting more worthless all the time.

Lol. Don't think its Microsoft's fault.

You can't just hope to 'wipe out' the hard drive.

If you have already tried to do so, your installed OS (Vista) may have been damaged, and now won't run.

One other way to resolve the issue is to do the step-by-step start up (if you can still do so).

Otherwise, I don't know if you can try system restore, or a recovery disk (if you already have a copy).

Failing that - computer repair people seem to be the last resort, or your computer provider (if its still under warranty).
