Default Windows Vista time trouble...?

This is getting annoying. I like Vista but the time is slow!!!! I have to change it like every day. It's so annoying. Has anyone else have this problem or know a solution to it?

Default

yep i had this problem too i got over it by just changing the time server.

right click on clock and choose> adjust date and time

choose the tab "Internet time"
and click on change settings
now make sure the radio button "Synchronize with internet time server" is checked. CLick on update now.
by default the time server is time.windows.com

if this server does not work for you toggle down to scroll another server and select it and click on update now.
here is a list of other time servers if you want to add it
time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov
time-a.nist.gov
time-b.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov

if your clock is still out of sync the you better do this
click on start menu and in the search box , type "regedit.exe" with any quotes and open it
alternatively you could right click in start menu>properties>start menu>customize> check the box that says display RUN and click ok and exit
and then open run and type regedit on the dialog box and hit ok

once you got regedit open
you need to navigate to this folder or key using the + sign to expand the hive/tree/subfolders
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
SYSTEM
CurrentControlSet
Services
w32time
TimeProviders
NtpClient

now once you have highlighted NtpClient , check the screen on the right hand side for an entry "SpecialPollInterval"
double click on "SpecialPollInterval" , a small window will pop up , make sure decimal is selected, now change the value from 604800 to
86400 and click on ok and restart your computer
this would update your time every day with the windows server automatically.

ps somewhere i read that AV also cause some prob sepcially Mcafee, make sure the firewall port 123 UDP is open so that windows can access the Time server.
