Default Vista Help? Can't play my mp3 and other data files!!!?

I have an HP G7073EI laptop with Vista Home Premium. I'm pissed coz am unable to play or open my mp3s or other data cds on vista, although I wrote those files on XP using Microsoft's default CD writing software. When I insert a CD into the drive, it just autoruns and opens a blank with none of my files on it. The CDs however open well on XP and other earlier OS versions, even on Linux. What's the prob? And am sure it's not the DVD+RW/-RW drive I have coz the CDs won't open on any machine with Vista!!! Help!!! This is driving me insane!!!

Maybe you need a new decoder that's compatible with vista. Otherwise it could be a codec problem or a problem with your disk.
