new laptop acer 9300 did initial install and setup added it to home network, worked fine for two days was working with it in the morning on third day shut down when i statred back had windows error message, went to screen to repair or restart and just kept cycling through, i end up having to do a hard reboot and lost everything on the hard drive that was installed

Acer is a great computer company... its probablly not the computer. I am sure that there is just too much going on and your hard drive is just freezing.

Click on Start, and either in RUn, or Search, Type in:

msconfig

and click enter.

Then click on the startup tab.

Uncheck every box there and click ok, or apply.

Restatr computer...

Now there will be nothing else on except the udates next time you install

This should help.

Its more then likely a problem with vista. Vista is highly unstable and I am here to back that up. You should try to go for XP.

Fix =

1.> Format all hard drives.

2.> Download preferred version of Linux (on a decent computer that doesn't have Vista)

3.> Burn Linux to DVD.

4.> Install Linux on your laptop.

5.> All problems solved.
