Default Firefox browser problem: or to be presice, a lack of one?

I have downloaded and installed it, left the box ticked for making it my default browser and even set the defaults on my comp to make it my default and removed IE but when I logged onto the Internet none of my Desktop shortcuts work including the Firefox one apart from my Yahoo mail one which is how I managed to get here!LOL and I'm still on IE.

How do I rectify this so Firefox opens, do I need to reboot for the installation to take effect or something?

Kind regards

Elric
Thanks, I had to reboot due to pc freezing, this sorted the problem but the import wizard didn't run properly so none of my favorites have been imported, how can I restart the import again?

sorry to be a pain!
Thanks, have enabled access to IE

Yahoo uses "plugins" from IE. Firefox may also. I have Firefox, IE6 or 7, and Yahoo/AT&T installed on 5 of my systems, although I use Yahoo more frequently, and then Firefox, with IE last. Reinstall IE6 or 7, and delete any "shortcuts" for IE, so that you won't be tempted to use them. BTW...Windows Updates requires Internet Explorer.

i'd say do a system restore to your installed firefox point and then install firefox again, make firefox default but dont remove IE ,its absolutely essential, thats what is causing the problem

Better remove all the shortcuts on your desktops. then go program files and create new shortcut for the items you want on desktop

You should not remove Internet Explorer, it's part of your operating system. Just install Firefox and then restart you computer. It's quite okay to have more than I browser installed on your computer. I've got five different browsers (IE, Firefox, Google Chrome, Flock and Acoo) but then I'm greedy.
