Default Explorer and Firefox Problem?

Alright, well recently Firefox has been taking a long time to open, somewhere between 5 - 10 minutes to open it on click, not normal. Also Internet Explorer has been randomly opening some windows, I'll try to get an update on what the site is on the window. And I can't seem to find out what is wrong. I've done that norton scan thing and scanned my computer multiple times and nothing seems to be wrong. I figured it was one of the two things that were recently downloaded. I was told by the other user of this computer that they had downloaded some program and intalled it half way through but stopped since it seemed like a bad thing. The website had something to do with a key or something. the other recent download was an online game, and it seems it hasn't given anyone else trouble. so i wass wondering if anyone knew why my explorer is opening random pages by itself and why firefox is taking 10 minutes to open and if either of the two downloads would have anything to do with it..
awsome thanks, I'll download and install that adware as soon as i can and reinstall IE and try and get to that factory default or whatever. The IE pages don't open up when i'm online though, I"ll leave my computer on and then come back a while later and there will be this open window for IE and no one has touched it after i did. but yeah thanks and i will give an update when i finish if it worked or not. ^^

The pages opened could be simple commercials displayed by the websites you visit, but it can also be adware - advertising software that installs itself without your permission and displays pop-ups.

I would suggest you to check for adware and viruses again with some updated antivirus and anitspyware software .

If you can't solve your problem maybe your Internet Explorer is corrupt. Try to reinstall it again.

For Firefox

* If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

You have an infection with regards to windows opening by themselves.
Run AdAware. Its free to download and should detect what infection you have.
From there, you will need to google the virus/infection for removal instructions.
Otherwise, you may be able to get rid of it with your virus scanner.

Yup, I'd say, ditto the above, and run AdAware. Also sometimes, to catch the things AdAware SOMETIMES misses, fetch a copy of Spybot Search and Destroy and run it, too. (And as for IE, if you're using IE7, mine just got grimy this past weekend due to some sort of auto-update, and after a long and tortuous journey through the MS phone system, we (MS and I) decided we had to "reset IE7 to factory defaults"...on the Advanced tab of Internet Options.) Good luck!
