something in your windows configuration files is causing that problem. you can try clicking on tools at the top when firefox is open and returning all the firefox setting to default. and see if that helps. firefox works fine for me with win xp home if you are using vista microsoft might have put a patch in vista to make you use their crappy explorer. the other thing you can try is d/ling opera and see how it works for you.

Download CCleaner - free here
http://www.ccleaner.com

clean the firefox history, cookies and browser cache - make sure firefox is not running when you run ccleaner - you will find settings for firefox under the applications tab
see here

your problems might be caused by an add-on - an extension or toolbar, especially a problematic recent one; many programs add stuff to firefox.

You don't need any of the crap as stated in the above answers.

If you have more than one tab open and just click the red cross to close, you will be prompted to confirm that you do want to close all tabs which will then cause a firefox error. If you have (for example) two tabs open and you want to close on, then just click the small cross on the actual tab itself.
