Apple can emulate MS gear, usually with a VM style Platform, and so, you just cable the gear through the Router, set the PC to regular, and configure the Mac to do all the hard work; I know it works, seen it done many times. Good Fun. Better with the Intel Chips though on the Macs

Yes, they can put used together. You can actually use one keyboard and mouse together to control both computers at the same time using this Synergy. There is a link here.

Apple doesn't need to emulate MS. Apple compouters can integrate just fine with windows networks. I have a mac that I use on my windows wireless network. It works just fine, even with file and printer sharing. It won't be a problem.
