yes...and a good addition to this is winpatrol (free version) and zone alarm, when anyone tries to sneak in a download on you zone alarm will ask your permission, winpatrol you hear a ruff...then same thing all have free versions and are compatable with each other, along with defender...

Windows Defender is anti-spyware only. It is not a comprehensive security solution. You still need (at a minimum) an anti-virus and a firewall in addition to WD.

I agree with the others...One should NEVER disable your firewall(s) in order to make a game, a web cam or some program work, it is a major no-no. Your computer can be attacked or infected with worms and viruses in minutes!

Learn how to properly configure your firewall, but never disable it, even for a minute. A firewall is there for a very good reason: to protect you from hackers!

Firewall is your friend, it is not your enemy!

No, you should never turn off firewall, it helps keep out side intruders from being able to gain access to information on your computer. I use windows defender and it works well with Windows Defender. I also use Norton Internet Security with both the other two with no problems, I do not use the firewall built into Norton.
These free virus protection are all not created equal, Do they update automatically and have support if not why?
You get what you pay for as the old saying goes.
Hope this helps

yes it will but not as good as the fire wall. Try changing the firewall settings to let your web browser access the internet.
