Default 'Vampire Diaries' slammed by UK critics

The Vampire Diaries DVD Box set has been poorly received by critics in the UK.

The series, which began last year on The CW in the US, Doctor who DVD Box set started its 12-part run on ITV2 last night.

Despite being watched by nearly a million viewers, one reviewer slammed the Supernatural DVD Box Set horror drama as "a little bit teen soap".

Kevin Watson of Metro wrote: "This latest addition to the neck-chomper genre couldn't help but suffer in comparison to the Cajun raunch of True Blood DVD Box Set .

"In The Vampire Diaries DVD Box set it took a good 30 minutes for the token slutty one to end up on the wrong end of a nice pair of fangs. True Blood DVD Box Set would have eaten her up and spat her out in a matter of seconds.

"Advance word has it that The Vampire Diaries DVD Box set warms up a few episodes in, when the saturnine Damon - Ian Somerhalder (from Lost) - Doctor who DVD Box set gets into his stride as the evil brother."

The Guardian summed up the series as "not really very good",Doctor who DVD Box set while the Leicester Mercury thought it was too similar to other dramas of its genre, like "Being Human", but hoped that the plot would "perhaps get better".
