Default I have some .avi files that I would like to watch through windows media...

...center on my Xbox 360. Can you help? Ok so I have Windows Vista Ultimate with media center and I have the extender setup for my xbox 360. There are a few .avi files that a friend sent me and I would like to watch them on my TV through my Xbox. I can find the file fine, but when I try to play it it gives me this eroe message. "Cannot Play Video: The file type is not recognized and cannot be played. Either the correct codec (a file that compreses/decompresses audio or video) is not installed or the file is corupt." Well the file is not corupt because I can watch it through windows media player on my comp. I have downloaded "FFDSHOW" and "Media Control Configuration". I was under the impression that "FFDSHOW" was a codec package. I figured it would automatically configure, but I guess I was wrong. Can anyone help me? By the way I am running and wired network, so it is not a wireless connection. Also I have downloaded the k-lite codec package. Please help

Default

The simplest method is to use a decent converting tool to make them into WMV's. you might think its a pain to do so but you can put them all into a batch overnight to be ready when you wake up. This method is more recommended to people that dont want to mess about with codecs. My experience of codec designers is that many of them dont seem to know what they are doing anyway.
