...edition? My com didn't come wit I am typing on my Wii because my com (windows xp media center, hp pavilion a1218n) is missing its hal.dll file and i want to repair it, but my computer never ( bought in dec 2005 or jan 2006, one or the other ) came with one. And I don't want to format my com.
And when com boots up it gives that generic " Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt
<Windows Root>\system32\hal.dll Please re-install a copy of the above file
To do that I need the windows xp cd which my com never came with.

when you bought your computer the warantu include a cd , but the construcor got it, so u need to phone the hotline and they will ship it for free as long as your computer is still on warranty, this is a trick that a few people know and the computer save money on it.
so phone them and explain tham your pb, they will register your address and ship it to you
