I think so. I'm not positive that it doesn't use the internet (I think it just texts you) but you should give it a shot because you can stop it at any time.
Go to your MSN Messenger. At the top toolbar click Tools, then "Edit a mobile device.." It should take you to a website and you can register from there. Hope that helps, let me know how it goes! |

if you have Unlimited messaging then you wont have to worry about any data charges at all. The IM messages will be classified as Text Messages on your bill.....(this is with AT@T but most other company's are close to if not the same) If you have a limit on texting that limit will also account for Instant Messages sent or received. Even though on a computer the messages are sent through the Internet to the other person, with a phone it doesn't use the Internet....the other persons computer uses the Internet to send it to the cell towers then the cell towers send it to your phone and vice versa. So no charges for using the Internet to send IM's!

Well you have to log into Messenger and you'll get IM's through there. I don't recommend it because it can be VERY expensive. My bill came at 103 bucks with 57 bucks of IM's! Anyway, you still have to use the internet on your phone. If you have an unlimited messaging plan, go ahead and do it. If you don't, I recommend that you don't.
