can I install windows XP home to a computer the has windows 2000

professional currently installed on it.? i tried to install windows XP on my computer and xp said there was not an upgrade path between the two operating systems. does anybody know if there is a way to upgrade from windows 200 professional to windows XP home edition?

Upgrade, no. I personally don't like the 'upgrade path' anyway. There are 3 versions of XP Home - Retail, OEM, and Upgrade. What you need is an OEM copy or a retail copy of XP Home, not the upgrade version.
Before you attempt this though, check online for Win XP drivers for your computer. If the manufacturer does not have drivers for XP, then you shouldn't switch to XP. Hope this helps. If you need help in verifying if the drivers are available for your computer, provide the make and model number and I'll look it up for you. |

Ok put in your windows Xp cd and turn off your computer.
Turn it back on and u should see a boot from disk. boot from disk, then you can format the harddrive from in there. Then after that you install windows Xp from boot from disk. |
