Default Windows 2000 upgrade to XP error.

When i try to UPGRADE from 2000 to XP i get an error message saying: An error occurred coping file a1n8rb9b.sys to C:\$WIN_NT$.~BT\a1n8rb9b.sys. It gives me options to retry which does not work and a skip, i do not want to skip it cause it might mess up my computer and i want to avoid that. Does anyone know anyway to fix this? Please help.
When i skip the file another pops up this one is called ax3ty4iq.sys.

There is another way of installing it.

Right, now this is an overvfiew, basically you should try to install it through your pc's BIOS or system thingy or whatever.

I would suggest backing up your most important files before doing this. if you have a hotmail address then you can go onto skydrive.live.com and you should be able to get 2GB of storage space, or even more. (Use USB Drives as well)

Firstly, after backing up, restart your computer and open your BIOS. Ermmm, the button should either be F8, 10, or 12. Try all three.

Then, look under the settings until you find something that has to do with the booting order. Open those settings. Then set it up so that your ATAPI CD-ROM is first (if you have another one, make the second CD-ROM 2nd) and put all the rest afterwards. Then, press the button which saves settings and exits. Your pc should reboot.

After that, it should ask you to press any button to boot from a CD. Press any button. Then it should load up a setup installer that looks like your bios. Follow instructions to continue with setup until.....

You see a bit that looks at OS's which are already installed. It should show your Windows 2k installation, if it doesnt, do not follow any more, because you could end up deleting all of the data on the hard drive, including programs.

Select your Win2k bit, and it should start copying files. If it says it cannot find a file and tells you to reinsert cd, or check it, or something, take the cd out, and put it back in. nice.

After some time, it will automatically reboot after so and so seconds. leave it

On the next booting cycle, do not press the button to boot from cd, let it go into the os, take the cd out before the message if you want.

Continue on until you finish installing.

If nthing goes wrong, including formatting data, i do not take a little bit of responsibility. Before doing this, backup ALL IMPORTANT DATA. i suggested it before, now i'm sayin DO IT!!!!!.

If you doubt this, then dont do it, i dont want to end up responsible for someone losing all of their important files.
