Default I'm trying to install Windows XP, and need to remove Windows 2000.?

I just purchased Windows XP Upgrade SP2. I currently run Windows 2000 on my PC. I tried using the Windows XP disk to start a new partition. I really just want to remove Windows 2000 and install Windows XP. I've tried using my AEFDISK floppy to wipe my partition clean, but i keep getting an error. Any ideas? Thanks.
The Windows XP CD gives me an error stating something about my current Windows version is not compatible with my current windows version. I can't get my AEFDISK to work, i'm also getting errors on that.

i think the 2000 has to be up to date before an upgrade will work. were i you, i would take it back and get windows full version, few bucks more. and if you wipe the drive, it still wont install as it needs many files the old windows has.

Can't tell from the limited information supplied. However if you wipe out the initial windows installation then windows xp upgrade can't find the previous version with which to upgrade from. Only a guess given the limited info as I say.
