i damaged it.i shut it down on windows up date now some letters come out :

Your computer is screwed then. If you have another computer at hand, download a version of Linux (try Xubuntu) and burn it to a CD. Put the CD in and boot from it. From here you can recover many files on the corrupt hard drive.

How about reinstalling win98?

if you have a floppy disk in the drive remove it and restart, if that doesnt work you will need to check that the primary boot device is the hard drive.

if that doesnt fix it it sounds like its a problem with your operating system and may need to reinstall it
