With great difficulties, as most MiniDV doesnt support 98, the key is to find a software that can install in 98, then add a firewire card into 98, it should allow some form of communication.

Hello,
The problem with Windows 98 is it doesn't have the capabilties to detect your camcorder's video signal unless you install 2nd/3rd party software (i.e. a disc that came with the camcorder for video editing,etc.). My suggestion is to find a friend or co-worker's computer that has Windows XP, Vista or Apple OS X or Higher. These operating systems have features built in to detect video signals (from your model camera). Another option is to buy a video capture card; capture the video with the card/software that comes with the card. http://search.yahoo.com/search?p=video+capture+cards+for+windows+98&fr=yfp-t-501&toggle=1&cop=mss&ei=UTF-8 . Make sure it works with Windows 98; most cards that are in the stores don't work with 98 because of modifications/newer systems. Hope this helps -- best of luck! |
