...XP. How do I do this? I have a computer with windows 98. What I would like to do is upgrade it to Microsoft widows XP. Can I just wipe my hard drive clean and go from there or do I have to get a new tower?????
If so how do I go about wiping my hard drive and upgrading? I hate to have to buy a new computer if I don't have to.

If you go from 98 to XP, you might not like your computer's performance. XP is a much larger and more resource consuming operating system. My advice to you, buy a new computer.

Stay with 98 on an older computer.
Upgrade to XP will use up hard drive space and ram.
The CPU may not handle all that
