I'm about to buy a new desktop for World of Warcraft and nearly everything meets the requirements. The only thing I was wondering about was that the computer has Windows 98 SE, and apparently I need Windows 2000. If i didn't get Windows 2000, would WoW still run with the 98?
(I understand it most likely wouldn't run well on a server like Illidan that's constantly at high population, but what about one like Uldaman that's usually at medium?) |

Ah no. Windows 98 is not the same base OS as Windows 2000 (based on NT).

how much would a system with 98 on it run for? id prolly pay someone to haul mine to the junk yard. u can spend 150 on an older intel celeron based computer with a CRT monitor & but a decent PCI video card (assuming u can install windows xp) and it would be good enough for WoW. i play wow on a 1.6ghz sempron OC'd to 2.0ghz w/ a agp wal-mart video card. laughable but it works. i also have my current game rig:
Athlon 64 x2 5600+, 4 x 1gb patriot ram, 2 x 36gb raptor's HDD, 8600GT x 2 w/ a SLI gigabyte board. |
