Default 256 colors on a Toshiba Satellite 200CDS with Windows 95?

Hi all. I have a Toshiba Satellite 200CDS running windows 95 (all very old stuff i know xD) but at the moment i cant get it to run on 256 colors, which alot of programs I have on there require! I remember it used to run on 256 colors, and am hopeing some1 else knows the display settings i need. I haven't changed the monitor, or the Adapter, and i may need to know these in order to select the right ones in the advanced display properties. I would probably need to know the Desktop Area required aswell. thankyou for your time

your display resolution is i guess 800 x 600
that is all you need to know

note the settings down, in the advanced display properties
change the adapter type from settings & see if that works
sure shot > the issue lies there-in

if all else fails, you may need to install correct display driver,

and best of luck on that

Been a while since I used Windows 95, lol, but you do something like this:

Right click on desktop, hit properties. On the tabs up top click on settings. Check what the color quality box says.
