How to downgrade vista to windows 98?

I am trying to downgrade my Windows Vista to Windoes 98 for preference reasons. When i insert my Win98 disc, it boots up without reading hte disc, and says i need to boot in MS-DOS mode. from my understanding, Vista does not have MS-DOS mode. what do i do?
