Default How to rescue files from an old computer? (Windows 98)?

I have a computer that I've used for the past three years (it's an old Hewlett Packard with Windows 98), and it's slow to the point that it's unusable because it freezes during every task, including rebooting. I have a lot of word documents on there that I would love to save and be able to put on a new computer, but the computer doesn't work long enough without freezing to allow me to save anything to a floppy disk (I haven't been able to find a flash drive that works with Windows 98, and I can't save anything to a cd). Is there anyway to rescue my files?
