Windows Vista 64 bit or Windows XP for gaming?

Does XP support up to 4Gb RAM? I have heard that the 32 bit version of Vista can not support 4Gb of RAM. Also, the compatability of Vista with games has been an issue with many games. Please tell me what your choice would be and why. Thanks.
