Default system has recovered from a serious error under win xp sp3. Where can I go to

Also, My dvd drive performance has gone to pot since this has started to occur. Could it be a bad controller or drive? Only other thing I can think of is that maybe having 4 gb of ram, not all addressable could be causing some issues to?

If the problem has occurred AFTER auto updates installed Service Pack 3, then uninstall the Service Pack. A lot of problems have been occurring with that SP.

Also, modify auto updates (tell it to ask you when updates are available, and give you the opportunity to choose which ones).

Forget asking MS for any assistance. Their technical support sucks! they want to quit support for XP anyway. Short answer: upgrade to Vista.

This error message means that the requested data was not in memory; an invalid system memory address was referenced. Possible causes:
1. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM).
2. Incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software).
3. Non RAM-related hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).
4. Rootkit spyware infection by Msupd5.exe or Reloadmedude.exe.
5. Other factors.
