when i first load the laptop up it comes up with

"WARNING: the battery cannot be identified.
this system witll be unable to charge this battery."

press any key to continue.

then setup and boot menu

then on the next page it says

"please select the operating system"

windows xp proffesional

how do i stop this from happening?

don't know about the battery but the operating system means you ahave a dual boot. You need to remove this as its a partition on your harddrive.
