Default What is the deal with these "Fatal Error" messages when I try to install windows

XP? ? "One of the components that windows needs to continue setup could not be installed.

Data Error (Cyclic Redundancy Check)"

"The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

Im trying to install a Windows XP again on my computer after I changed a bad harddrive on it. I assumed it would be an easy process, but I was wrong. I done everything to the letter in the instruction manual, when I finally get to the "Windows" looking screen where tells you your approximate installation time, that is where I keep getting these error message.

Some real answers on what to do now would be nice, if no one can't point me into the direction of a really good tech support forum.

So please, don't answer if you honestly don't know what your talking about.

Sounds like your optical drive is going bad. That error means the device can't read the source. Try another CD/DVD drive. Should clear right up

Good luck
