Reinstalling like that is a joke. It's better to erase the hard drive with "Kill Disk", format, and install Windows XP, and drivers. "USE A BOOTABLE WINDOWS XP DISC SP2 OR GREATER!"

Reinstalling over the Windows XP doesn't help much at all. Waste of your time, and money if you try to keep doing it that way.

You probably need a new hard drive.
